YOUR IMPACT
According to the EPA, about 2 billion razors are thrown away every year in the US. Typical cartridge razors and disposable blades are non-recyclable, meaning all of this hazardous garbage ends up in landfill every year. Switching to wet shaving and reusable razors is a great way to avoid adding to this problem.
You also save money on repeatedly buying disposable razors - in less than a year, you will more than make up for the cost of this razor. Only money you will spend is to buy the steel blades. Depending on shaving frequency, these 10 steel blades should last you 50-80 shaves. Why pay a shaving club and the postal service to ration cartridges to you one month at a time? Not to mention all the emissions and resources needed to ship these cartridges to you each month.
TIPS AND INSIGHTS
With proper care, this razor should last you a lifetime. But if you have to dispose it, it is 100% recyclable with metal recycling.
The blades need to carefully stored and recycled. Typically, you do NOT want to throw it with your curbside recycling. Check with your local municipality or metal scrap collection center for their scrap metal collection policy.
Store used blades carefully in a metal blade bank, small can or closed jar for safety. Once enough blades are collected, they can be dropped off together for recycling.
